Newbie here with 6 day old cayugas dying!

Yes, that is what I start all Ducklings on is wet soupy feed..They get hydrated and nourishment ...

Is that similar or the same thing as mash? Giving them soupy feed makes perfect sense. But I had read on here somewhere that ducks don't like mash, so I didn't change their food at all.

I wet it the first few day to a week really wet and like soup..Dry in another bowl and a water bowl too...
When older I make mash once in the morning and again at night....

I just keep changing the consistency till they are totally only eating the dry...Its up too them ....My Ducklings always decide by three weeks to eat dry and the wet is left..

Sorry....Also change out the wet feed a couple times a day as it sours quickly....

Did you contact Metzers? they need to know.

One place you said pellets then crumble, pellets are not good for tiny ducklings crumble is better and I agree making it soupy is good to start with.

So sorry you lost the 2 littles it's always sad.

Oops! It was an accident if I said pellets. They are crumbles. I have sent 2 emails to Marc I believe it is from Metzers with no response. But I will try calling.

Not everyone can get duck starter, but All flock crumble is an alternative it is made for all poultry and can be given from hatch till end of life.

Hopefully you'll hear soon from Metzers they are suppose to be good to deal with and should replace the lil ones for you. Did you ever find out why they were so long in transit.
