In the Brooder
Hello, peeps! (Get it? Ha ha!)

I have owned chickens for years, and currently have 9 hens, a right proper mix: a Buff Orpington - Lily, 3 Auracona - Peggoty, Clara and Nellie, 1 Cuckoo Maran - Betsy, 1 Barred Plymouth Rock - Henny Penny the III, 1 Delaware - Heidi, 1 RIR - Pippi and 1 Black Australorp - Bessie. I have always been crazy about "my girls", in fact the best years of my life were when I had a rescued white Silkie hen named Margalo who lived indoors with my kids and I. Still brings a tear to my eye when I catch myself thinking of her in an off guard moment.

In addition to m'girls, I have Thankful, a Naragansett turkey hen and Tom, a generic white BB tom (both Thanksgiving rescues), 2 Nubian goats - Cassiopeia and Trixy Bell, 5 dogs (2 Border Collies - Molly and MacGyver, a BC mix - Buddy, an Aussie - Pooka and a foster - a mini fox terrier/chihuahua - Dierdre), and 9 cats: Stuart, Prince, Princess, Bob, Firefly, Bilbo, Samwise, Pippin and Meriadoc. Because that's not enough for me, I have 7 cockatiels - Sunny, Shadow, Jack, D'Mara, Sassy, Margalo (named in honor of my Silkie) and Daisy, then there's the 8 guinea pigs: Patches, Rosie, Queenie, Camelia, Poppy, Pansy, Rosette and Ronald. (Wait - there's more!) I have three parakeets - Sky, Ocean and Azure (betcha can't guess THEIR color!) ... and... 3 pairs of Snowflake Bobwhite quail, and 3 pairs of dilute Courternix quail. Oh, and 2 Society finches and 8 Zebra finches. That's all, ha ha ha!

I (obviously, I guess!) live out in the country, in south western Oregon. I run this 1 1/3 acre mini Insane Asylum that we call Idyllwylde with the help of my 4 kids, ages 14, 13 and 12 (twins). My poor, long suffering husband spends his days pining for his hometown of Los Angeles and trying to avoid animals other than his dog, Buddy, lol. Sooo, that's me, and what I'm all about! Other than my church and my family, I take care of my disabled sister and my animals... it's my own happy little world.
