Hi I'm Kim and a new owner of 2 gorgeous Khaki Campbell ducklings, 2 wks old and 3 chickens, ISA Brown, White Leghorn & Australorp, 3 wks old. I have had chickens before but not ducks, so very excited to own two. What are your duck runs like, we currently rent so can't really build a huge oasis for them.

Since you asked about the set-up, I have nine runner ducks. They spend their nights in what is essentially a wooden-framed, 3-foot-by-10-foot, hardware cloth wrapped box. It has a top-opening door on one end, and a side opening door on the other. Half of the top is open hardware cloth; the other half is corrugated metal roofing. It is actually a home-made chicken tractor that I got off Craigslist for $50 and added hardware cloth over the existing chicken wire.

There is an attached run with a plastic baby pool, but the ducks are only out of the run when I am home -- and then, they are usually free ranging in the yard.

Not really as my hubby & I work full time and we have foxes in the area, so they would be out when we get home and on weekends
