I am a new chicken owner and I have done everything backwards so far. I am trying to get my thing in order quickly. I picked up 18 chicks and 2 ducks (my girlfriend's idea on the ducks they are outgrowing their indoor accommodations, and I am finishing a coup for them now. I have 12 Rhode Island Reds and 6 of some breed I got just because they were black and I like black things *LOL*. I am a nurse by trade so I am out working a lot but my girlfriend is home all day and will be the primary keeper of our flock. I am just here so I can learn to help her more and make the chickens lives more comfortable.

Welcome. If either of the ducks are males, you will have to keep them away from the pullets/hens. The male ducks could kill the pullets/hens trying to mate. Basically, male ducks have parts - roosters do not.
