Newbie in NC

Welcome, I just joined this week too. Have had our chickens since Saturday. No eggs yet though. I got our hens from the man I had been buying eggs from in Newton, NC. One idea for local chicken farmers is to check the IWANNA. You can check online also. Just be careful about making sure the ages are good. The older a hen is the less she lays. The man I bought my chickens from said that if the rooster is too mean you can always eat him and get another.

Good luck.

LOL.... they can't see for much of anything... but not all sikies have the HUGE puff. I have 5 and only 2 have an over size puff. I have a rooster who has a mohawk. He's the protector though.

ALL my little fluffy butts free range most of the day. I let them out in the morning or early afternoon after I collect the eggs ....that way its not easter every evening when I put them up. LOL

P.s. - I got my chickens where krjwaj got her's. There is also a farm in Willow Springs NC Called "The Miniature Farm" and they only have bantams and silkies (only black/white available for $10 a pair). I got 2 there over a month ago and they just started laying this week.
