You have good, hardy, dependable breeds. The Black Australorps are excellent layers and the Easter Eggers are my granddaughters favorites. She loves the colored eggs. Good luck with your flock.

Thank you for all the warm welcomes.
I got some pics tonight of my girls, most of them anyway. Don't know how Pretty didn't get into any frontways but I will try again!

DJ is on the roost bar, just about 5 wks old, Barred Rock
Annie/Andy is far right, Buckeye, about 4 weeks old
Allie is in the middle, Buff Orpington, about 4 weeks
All you can see of the White Cochin, Pretty, is her feet. She's about 4 weeks as well
And that's Minky in the back at the waterer. She's the littlest, about 3 1/2 weeks old

Vera, Easter Egger, about 4 weeks old
And Pretty from behind :)

Yes, that is a kiddie pool in my garage, lol. This is Brooder 4.3 version, or something like that. We started with a medium clear tote bin, but quickly upgraded to a larger version of that. Built a 2x4 box, that lasted about another week. Then we gave them my daughters kiddie pool with the dog fence inside it. Now we have the dog fence on the outside of the pool. I get them outside part time most days whike I work in my garden and on the coop/run we're building. Man do they get grumpy in that little old pool if its rainy or cold out! Today I ripped apart the 3x8 A frame tractor I had schlepped together for outside and I built them a bigger better temporary run. Its much roomier, about 6 by 8, and has the hardware mesh instead of chicken wire. Can't wait till tomorrow, hope the weather's good, cause they were cooped up all day today while I worked on the run. I think they're gonna like it!

By the way, not saying that you will do anything bad, but no fowl play
