My name is Sarah. Well, kinda newbie. We have 2 hens we got at Southern Ag when they were 3-4 weeks old. they are 8 weeks and thriving.
We loved them so much we ordered 4 more from My Pet Chicken. The 1 day old chicks arrived today.3 of 4 are doing great.1 is really struggling :( I will post questions on boards but wanted to introduce myself.

  2. Alright Sarah, [IMG] great to have you joining the BYC flock [IMG]

Sounds like you should feed them some hard boiled egg's and put some ACV in the drinking water .. [IMG]

Hello there and welcome to BYC! [IMG]

Congrats on your new chicks! Sometimes shipping is hard on chicks and dehydration can really get them. So you might add some electrolytes or even Pedialyte to the water for a couple days. Even a couple tablespoons of sugar in one quart of water can make a big difference. Keep dipping the beak in the water to get her hydrated.

Good luck and I hope the little baby pulls thru. [IMG]

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

X2, shipping is very stressful on chicks. After they arrive check for pasty butt, keep them very warm and put some sugar in the water.

Hope the little chick makes it, shipping is stressful to birds and their owners.
