Hiya, and welcome to BYC!

We have 3 cats that don't bother the chicks, but like @janiedoe said, I wouldn't trust them with baby chicks.

We also have two dogs, a border collie and a corgi. They keep the varments out of our yard and the chickens trust them.

Can you ask your neighbor if you could hold a chicken and show your dog? It might help if your dog sees you holding and cuddling it. Maybe you'll find it just wants to eat the chicken though. I know work can be done to train them, but I didn't have to do anything for ours.

Definitely be careful with the dog, many of them see chickens as a meal. Introduce them all very slowly and watch for any signs the dog doesn't understand.
