Newbie Introduction

Hi everyone! I live in Northern California and my neighbors have chickens. I figured now is a good time in the U.S. to start learning about how to keep our own. We do have a dog and five cats, so I am wondering how to have everyone live safely together.

cats are unlikely to harm adult chickens but it is still possible. Introduce the dogs/cats/chickens together slowly! and start off with the chickens in a pen so the dogs and cats can't get to them completely.

Welcome to BYC. I've never had a cat bother my chickens, though I wouldn't trust them around new hatches without a mother hen.
Dogs are always iffy. It depends on the individual dog.
