Hey everyone,

Im just new to this having chickens, I have 5 that are 4 1/2 weeks old and 24 that are 5 1/2 weeks old. The Breeds I think I have are Barred Rock, Dark Leghorns, 2 white leghorns, Rhode Island reds!!! I would like to just have them for furry friends and for eggs, But Im sure loving them!!! We are still wondering with the RIR which are hens and which are roosters!!!! My girls love them so much that they spend lots of time with them in the coop sitting on the floor and letting them get use to them, they actually jump on them and will roost and go to sleep. The 5 that are over 4 weeks old we have named them all and are the ORIGINAL 5. My husband bought 24 more so he can have lots of eggs...lol. so the original 5 we hold, and pet and love them to pieces, well I guess we love ALL of them to peices. very cool to watch them as they have grown. they each have there own little personalities. Will soon post pics as I might need some help determining the sex of some. talk to you all soon!!!!

! Pleased to have you aboard! If only even 1/4 of your chickens are hens, you are going to be eating a lot of eggs! If most are hens, you'll be in the egg selling business! Good luck and have fun!

Thank you flock master, Nothing beats the taste of farm eggs!!!! with all the love you give them, they make sure you get the best from them!!! Plus my whole family will be liking the eggs as well!!! maybe I should only have 6-8 hens!! oh well they are great furfriends!!!! :)

Welcome, I'm a newbie too, my chicks are younger than yours.... but I found the egg comment funny. I was making cornbread for my hubby to take to a potluck tonight, and had only two eggs in the carton. I thought to myself as I used the last egg, "I can't wait until my chickies start laying those eggs, my family is eatting eggs like crazy." I am really looking forward to not buying store bought eggs!
