We started our small backyard flock April 1st with a RIR, Barred Rock, Gold Laced Wyndotte an what we were told was a California White and an Americana. Not positive of the breed or sex of the CW, and the Americana looks like a Blue Jersey Giant from internet searches. Dont have any good pics of the supposed Americana yet, but would like opinions on the sex of the CW, the GLW and the BR
Here is Dixie, she is approx 14 weeks old and you can see the GLW at 14-15 weeks ad the Americana in the background of one of the pics is 15-16 weeks

This is Pearl, the CW

Lastly, Ellie our RIR. Pretty sure she is a pullet.

All help is appreciated and thanks in advance for all of the great information I have received to date from everyone. The entire family loves our chickens and we are having a blast with them.

You've got a pretty flock of girlies there!

Most the breeds you've listed appear to be correct, although you've got a bit of confusion around your blue girl. Blue Jersey Giant is it's own breed (you don't have one here).

Americana is a 'made up' word (no such breed exists, it's a misspelling of Ameraucana, which is a really rare purebred bird that hatcheries can't afford to offer, so they 'goof' the name and offer their own approxomate version). It's easiest to refer to your blue girl as an Easter Egger. They're a very colorful addition to any backyard flock.

She'll most likely lay blue or green eggs for you. She's very beautiful!

Thanks Pele!! We have been really concerned about the CA White, you think she is a female? Any other differing opinions?

looks like a bunch of girls but the barred rock looks like its a Dominique instead.

I was on the fence about the comb myself, but erred on the side of a young hen with a tiny straight comb since the OP stated she was a BR.

And Chicken Boss, don't worry about your CA White, they just have huge red combs as a breed. She should be developing a comb first before the others, I'd be worried if she didnt. Tell her she has lovely Mediterranean legs, I bet she'll lord over the other girls for hours. :P

hdowden - been wondering the same thing myself after looking at a looking at a lot of Dominiques vs BRs on BYC - they look very similiar. You may be correct, but I dont know the difference for sure.

They look the same, but they have different combs. We can't tell for sure from the pictures because they're a bit far away and she's young. A Barred Rock has a straight comb (single line, serrated). A Dominique has a rose comb (starts out as just a flat bump, but later develops into an oblong bumpy mass). Think of it as a difference between a thin roman nose and a big fat bulbous nose.
