hygrometers (and thermometers) are getting difficult to find in Wal Marts .. but in three of them now I have found them in the hardware section, on the SIDE of the END of an aisle ... on a small wire rack with either clips or pegs to hold
however, still haven't found that elusive $12 Acu-Rite --- there is a fancy remote-sensing one with an atomic clock for $26, a wireless thermometer-only (no humidity) for $18, and the supposedly worthless Springfield (white) one for $6.50
lucked out, got what was reported to be a "digital thermometer, outside kind" off Freecycle ... it DOES have a humidity meter, is missing the "remote sensor" but that's fine with me, will still measure ambient temp/humidity in a bator ... just not in a wiggler
didn't find a wiggler either --- the search goes on
have a line on a digital human thermometer- just about the right size to put in a wiggler ..... or if that doesn't work, I'm thinking about sticking it into a small container of magic bubbles that I got at a wedding reception !
Candy
(may hatch eggs, I like the challenge, and find a partner who wants to raise the chickens ... )
