Warning - I might be using some of this terminology incorrectly - I'm a newbie - bear with me
.
I have two late bloomers (day 22.5) chicken eggs who are pipping. One has only a tiny pip hole. One has broken through the shell with the beak poking out starting at 7am this morning. How long will it take for this little guy to hatch fully? I have not seen any more progress since about 9am this morning - no more shell breakage. My other 8 chicks zipped quickly, so, I'm concerned about this chick. This one seems tired, has made little progress, chirps randomly & kinda weakly, and moves minimally compared to the others I've witnessed hatching. How long should I leave this chick alone? I've read assistance in the hatching process is done as a last resort only? Plus, I've read not to open the incubator with other eggs pipping?
I've opened the incubator only twice (and very quickly) to take the dry, healthy, robust, and ADORABLE other 8 chicks out to put in the broody box.
Thanks for any advice!!!
