Newbie problem here...

Something is wrong with my tom.Look at this

Look at his tail feathers.They are in pretty bad shape.Now I want to ask,will these be "fixed" as the time passes by or should i do something.He is going to be 1 year old in august so he is not really old.Also Is he a Broad Brestead Bronze one?I don't really know

Any help would be appreciated.

My Bourbon Red Tom will from time to time have feather problems but they grow back with no problems.

Ohh ok so its normal?You know i think that my pig got him and snapped some of his feathers because i have them mixed.Rabbits,turkeys,chickens and a pig which we will kill in 2 or 3 weeks.

Yea, I think your boy will be ok. I have been having my Tom for years and it happens every year.

I know that the hens molt but I'm ont sure if males molt. Maybe an expert will come along and help us here.

Ok.You know we had a rooster too but they were fighting and the tom almost killed the roo.You knwo the rooster doesnt have any technique.He just jums in the air while the tom slaps him with his huge wing and then he is keeping him down and the rooster was bleeding but we got there just in time.We had to kill the rooster because he was a little aggresive too.I hope this doesnt happen with our new roosters.They are still young they can't breed so the tom (i hope) doesnt know who the rooster is and will not attack.

Also is he a BBB?And if he grows a beard,this happens after he is at least 1 year old right?

Thanks for the compliment about my turkey. I love my big boy. He has been through a lot and he is still here. You have a handsome boy as well. Do you have any other turkeys?

As far as growing his beard, I"m not sure when the beard begins to grow.

As of now i have 15 chicks that i now are roos,they are 4-5 weeks old.I have 3 more turkey hens and 2 of them are broody.Well about aggressive,everytime i was nearing the coop he started running towards me+ when i was not looking probably to attack.He never attacked me but at a time he attacked a chicken so bye bye rooster he is in the fridge now.

A bit harder to see his size when he is displaying, he would be 9 months old? I think he might be a standard bronze, but not positive on that. Grab him and feel his breast area, if he is a BB Bronze he will have thick breasts, well filled out. He may have a beard started now, if you look on his chest you might see some black bristles starting to poke out like a round paint brush. They can also damage tails and rub off beards by rubbing on wire fencing. He does look a bit tattered, but yes he will molt and look better... eventually.

If only I could catch him.I got him as a week or 2 week old poult and he was pretty wild and i didnt bothered taming him.He will come about 2-3 meters in front of you but you cannot catch him except if you trap him in a corner.

Your turkey is a broad breasted bronze because mine looks exactly like yours.

Turkeys (and other poultry) molt every year, so he will grow those feathers back; if you don't want him to break those feathers then you might have to isolate him

from the flock. Your rooster problem-- never never put roosters together, especially with a bunch of hens they will fight for dominance. Also, another reason your animals could be fighting is these animals pick their owners the owners don't pick them: for example, I owned a turkey-- and she was supposed to be mine but she decided she liked my mom more

, even though she hardly ever saw my mom.
So I have two turkeys and they both have "claimed" me

, so when I give one more attention than the other they will fight

and that goes for all birds not just roosters and turkeys (because my ducks do that too). You are right about the pig, he must not be in with poultry-- they don't mix, large animals (pigs, sheep, cows, etc) cannot be with small animals (chickens, ducks, turkeys, etc), but water fowl cannot be with land birds (ducks, geese, swans, etc cannot intermix with chickens, turkeys, quail, guineas, etc).

I have 3 years to study them and how these animals react towards each other.
One day I hope to be a poultry vet because there are not many (at least not where I live)
