Newbie Q about my first chicks

I am going to get in to SO much trouble on this site!

So now I'm thinking I've got it king of narrowed down, but with a twist!
I really like the Orps, EE, Australorps, and the Brahmas.
What about the Plymouth Rocks?

How, oh how will I ever decide? And when I do decide, how do I make sure that I don't just go buy a few of every kind?!?!
What's a girl to do?

We have barred rocks, RIR, araucanas, black and red sex links, and buff orps. I would take the buff orps any day. Granted mine are young, only 7 weeks, but they are nothing like the others were at that age. The orps are SO friendly. I would highly recommend them.

I would also recomment My Pet Chicken and Meyer Hatchery. I got the buff orps from Meyer and the rest last year at MPC.com. All are wonderful and very healthy. Good luck!

I have one Red sex link and one Black sex link. Both are very laid back and large. My black sex link is the most tame one in our flock of 19 and she LOVES to be held. My White Rock is also laid back. My Barred Rocks on the other hand are ALL personality and flighty.

If I had it to do all over again I would get all orps and sex links! They are both SO friendly and good to each other as well. Cochins are great too but are not as good of layers as the other two. And you can get all color orps nowadays! Good luck!

My favorite is the Specled Sussex,very sweet chickens and nice to look at.
