Newbie question about breeds

I live in San Francisco and can have up to four chickens. I was wondering if there is any reason I shouldn't get four different breeds. I would like to get an Easter Egger, a Sex-link, a Welsummer, and a Leghorn. The Plymouth Rock also seems like a nice breed.

People do it all the time. I've had a mix of breeds for a few years now. Sure makes it easier to tell them apart! I think it is good to get all large fowl, as you have chosen. Sometimes adding something like a Silkie to these breeds causes people to separate their flock.

I got all different breeds for the first 8 chicks I bought, in 2 groups of 4 chicks each. I believed I would not be able to tell them apart, otherwise. (I now know I can indeed discern individual birds of the same breed IN MY FLOCK. Not saying I could do it with anybody else's chickens!)

My entire flock is pretty much different breeds or different colors of breeds. There are not many "duplicates" except for the Cinnamon Queens, the Buckeyes, the dark Brahmas, the Blue Orpingtons, the Delaweggers, and even some partridge colored EEs. Hmmmm. Okay, so that sounds like there are quite a few duplicates, but that's only happened in the last 8 months or so.
