Newbie question!

My chicks (10 days) are eating the wood shavings?? Is this normal? They have plenty of food in the dish they eat. Should I change bedding?

They may be just pecking around in them...if they are eating them, its not good. They can get impacted crops. Do they seem to have extremely large crops? My babies will peck around in the shaveings as well....but dont seem to be eating them.

Nope, actually eating them? No enlarged crops yet though.

I have hay. Should I put that in instead? Crops still look okay.

Change bedding to straw or hay. Its works better. Do NOT let them eat the shavings, it can KILL them.
