I am new to chickens. I have been reading everything I can and yet my dh walks past and is going.... sigh..."more chicken stuff..do you ever get tired of it?" And I have been lurking BYC a lot for the past few months... I plead the fifth as to how much esp during work... (it has become an addiction, lol)
Long story as to how we got "saddled" with the chickens but I'm an easy mark for a pushover and I am enjoying them and their antics. We currently have 18 1/2 but I was/am supposed to thin the flock with my darling sis when/if she gets ready soon.. Otherwise we will thin out the roos and let the rest stay. I was hoping that some experience could help me with a few things.
First, my 1/2 chicken.. I had 2 smaller chicks that are now about 9 weeks old that stayed significantly smaller than the others hatched at the same time. This one however has not feathered out as well as the rest and after several bad spells now seems to have a parallysis. This has been since Thursday afternoon and has not gotten better as it has in the past. I did read on Marek's and although it is possible it does not seem to have all the symptoms.. She goes very rigid at times and temors but while she cannot hold herself.. she can move her wings, head, and even legs. Can this still be a sign of Marek's?
Also, if I can upload the pics.. I need help determining if these believed to be roos are indeed roos and a few what are they's...
ok.. call the idiot (or tired anyway) but I uploaded pics under the upload button but cant seem to find how to lik them to this post.. Help anyone???
