Newbie with a question about brood hen

My name is Brenda, I have been married for 31 years and have raised 4 sons. I am a grandmother of 5. I started raising chickens last year. I have Cherry Bells, Bantams, White Leghorns, Aracanas (sp?) & some I have no idea. I have 7 hens & one rooster right now. I will be getting more this evening. I also have a daschound that thinks he is a kid. We also raise rabbits. By the way, we do all this while living inside the City limits. Free eggs do wonders for the neighbors!..

lol...............indeed we girls do! The eggs were more a peace offering prior to getting rid of the extra 4 roosters. They didn't appreciate the early morning alarm clock as much as we did. Eggs for them, fried chicken for us.......peace in the neighborhood......priceless!
