newbie with chicks...

I was able to get 7 Golden Comets from TSC last Thursday. The chicks seem like they are doing well in the brooder. I have a few inches of litter on the bottom and they have scattered their food over a considerable circle around their feeder. My wife says she can now smell the chicks when she goes down stairs (I can't), but their litter seems dry. How often do I need to change it?

I have a single chick in a brooder and I clean it out 3-4 times a day. She is VERY messy for a single baby.
I use paper towel to make for easy cleaning.

I don't detect any mess.

If you don't detect smell or any accumulation of poo, I would probably change it every day or two.
What do you mean by litter exactly?

Litter is wood chips.
