I bought two baby ducks from a farm about two months ago, I believe they were only a couple weeks old. One is a black duck, s/he is now developing gorgeous iridescence, the other was brown with yellow markings, s/he is now brown with multi colors, and she still has the stripes around her eyes. I don't know what kinds they are, I asked the farmer but I learned so much about so many different birds that day, I forgot what mine are!

My question is really about the wings. I have never had ducks before, and when their wings started developing, I was scared! They are hollow looking feathers, with little tufts of black on the ends (someone said they look like dirty q-tips). Is this normal? Both ducks have this. Any thoughts for a scared mama? I have googled it so many times, with no results. Anything I type in about duck wings comes up with cooked duck wings, and I'm a vegetarian!

I don't know how to attach images, but here are some links to photos of my duckies:

OK, whew! I thought it might be normal, but it's so alien looking! Just making sure, thank you!!

Haha!
I think there should be a post somewhere about those wings, it was scary when I first saw it, and I can't find anything at all online about adolescent wings!

Do you think the other one may be a rouen?
