Newbie

Did you say where you are? If you have a lot of rain or snow, you'll want a solid roof on the run. If you are in an arid landscape then you could go with bird netting over the run to keep hawks, owls and eagles out. I like the idea of hardware cloth and an electric wire around. It's what I do.
I’m in Jordan, Ontario, Canada. Yes we can have lots of rain, barely any snow this year and we have our resident red tailed hawks and Cooper’s hawks and owls along with weasels and coyotes. Haven’t seen any coons. Roof....that might be tricky. Maybe 4 T posts with a tarp? Put several of those around the run. I noticed a guy down the road built a really nice enclosure. I’ll have to show my husband. Btw.....I ordered 5 Austrolorps....I hear Orpingtons can be broody and Austrolorps are part Orpington so hopefully will be docile too and lay more?

Australorps are Orpingtons. They came to Australia from Great Britain, where they were called Orpingtons. Once they became common in Australia, they started calling them Australorps. I don't think they were bred to be something different than what they were originally, so there might be a slight difference, but not much. They are just like them in almost every way.

Hello, and welcome! The coop looks decent in general. I won’t repeat the size thing. It’s a guide, and you’re aware of it. See how it works, and act accordingly.
I look forward to hearing more from you in the future!
Hi and thank you....you did see the new coop I posted that I ordered yesterday? It’s 6’ x 10’, two windows that open and two 12"x12" vents and I had them put in a chicken door. We are going to insulate as it can get extremely cold here......which I know is also controversial lol. No I won’t heat it....tho I do have a zero clearance chicken heater that I may put on the wall. The Mama heater in the brooder thread was VERY interesting and I may attempt that with my 10 new chicks???

@Cooba - A later welcome from my end! :welcome

It looks as if you've had alot of good input on your coop and newcoming chicken situation. If you can't tell already, folks here are very helpful and put their own experiences and knowledge to good use in educating others and offering friendly advice. If you can't find the information you need in past threads or articles, folks are more than willing to help out and respond to a question post you may make. I hope you'll share more about your experiences with your new chicks!
