My name is Kim and I’ve loved being a chicken keeper for 4 years. I joined Facebook moments ago so I can connect with other kind-hearted chicken folk. I’m not telling any of my friends nor family that I’m on FB because my only purpose in joining FB is to harvest chicken intel and to talk chicken. Ha! Just to define my level of crazy, after work last night, I drove an hour in 5pm Friday traffic across Baton Rouge to get to a feed store before it closed that had the chicks I was looking for. Ya feel me!? Lol. Yes! I had been watching YouTube videos to learn how to introduce chicks to an adoptive broody mama and executed the crazily well planned operation and it worked! SO, I’m a lil stoked right now.
I have 12 lovely hens..wellsummer, lavender maran, blue rock, Easter egger and one very comical polish. My large fowl Cochin rooster, Chewy (because he ran like a wookie,) died where he slept 2 weeks ago so I’m keeping an eye out for another gentle roo. Being a chicken and keeping ckns is not for the faint of heart. If I can figure out how to upload a video clip, u will get to see a happy lavender maran hen with her adoptees. 😊

Aloha and welcome @KimBeeee ! Sounds like you are well into your chicken adventure and I look forward to seeing you around the site. Driving for hours and miles for a special chick to integrate sounds like something I would... we all would do! (and many have!!!)
What is the breed of the chick? Congratulations on the successful paring!!! That is pretty darn awesome. :jumpy

Welcome to BYC Kim! This awesome community of poultry keepers and experts will be very excited to jump in and answer whatever questions you may have ☺️
