Newbie

Welcome to the coop! I use the Forums and Articles tabs at the top of the page to do research. You can get lost for hours. It's nice to know you are minutes away from getting help with questions and emergencies!
Keep us informed. Take some closeup photos of her legs,
Thank you, I spend awhile yesterday reading through a lot of them and it was great! This place is amazing! I believe the other chicken actually has scaly leg mites and so has passed it onto the chicken I was asking about. The other chicken is hard to get close to but when family is back home today we will be catching both hens, looking them both over and go from there. But I will definitely try to get some photos! 😊

Can you take your hens off the roost at night? That's always the best way to treat for anything. It is much easier than trying to catch them, and less stressful for you and them.

I think that is what we are going to do. Omy is easy enough, its Minnie who we cannot get close to so I think that will be the best option. We want it to be as less stressful as possible as shes still so cautious of people. She needs a look over too just to make sure it is but I managed to have a good look yesterday and I believe her legs look like they have it, I think I'm just second guessing myself!

So I have some photos. They really arent the greatest as they have been taken from a distance and zoomed in. I will hopefully get better photos that are close up and clearer once we are holding her tonight, but I dont think this is what 'normal' chicken legs are supposed to look like? They look bigger and the scales are out? Or are they normal? Or is it too hard to tell with these photos? These are of Minnie

I would treat her. Do you have a large jar/tin of Vaseline or bag balm?
