My buddy has been raising chickens for a few years and agreed to let me have a coop on his property--he'll take care of their feeding and watering, but I'll visit them at least once a week and clean out their coop and give them fresh bedding (and pick up the eggs they lay).
My first batch of chicks met with a horrific end when my dog discovered how to open our bedroom door while we were all away.
My second batch of chicks arrived last week and are currently doing quite well in a garage setting (where the dog can't get in). I'm in the process of building them an enclosure that is more permanent.
I also ordered some Pharoah Coturnix that will arrive next week. They will share space--but not be able to be in contact with each other.
I'm new, but I have some good advisors locally. It's been great to find this forum so I can do more research and garner additional advisors. ("In the multitude of counselors, there is wisdom.")
