Newbies 1st Hatch ! ! *Contest Listing updated*

Well MSHEN, sonew123, and StoneyRidge I'm glad you posted your results first it makes me feel a little less discouraged about my hatch. It's not over yet but my hatching rate is lower than I had hoped and I've already had to cull one chick and am gearing up for a second cull. Sigh.

Ok, moving into chicken math mode, 40-2=38 8/38=21%

David, the flopping thing, that's what Rocky did. It was sad, and I'm glad he died and I didn't have the cull him.

Well, it looks like 6 quitters remain in the hatcher this morning. Only one Wellie.
I've decided that my humidity was too high at 40-50%, and perhaps my temps 1 degree low.
I'm going to break the last Wellie eggs later today and see if, again, I have fully formed chicks that didn't pip.
So, I'm reporting my hatch as 1/11 unless I open and find infertiles in the Wellies. They are too dark to candle.
I'm thankful for the one Wellie. I had to stop at the feed store and buy him a 1 day old friend as my other birds would be far to big to stay with him/her.
1/11 = 9%

Well then, try to zip through the egg with your nose because I'm guessing you don't have an egg tooth. Oh, and stay in the bator until you're dry.
