Newbies 1st Hatch ! ! *Contest Listing updated*

I would like to enter too, but my chicks have hatched 2 weeks ago. I set 10 eggs March 1. 5 brown eggs, 5 green, from my home flock. Candled on day 7 but could only see through the brown ones, and we saw 2 did not have any veining. We cracked them open and they were indeed NOT fertile. We couldn't see through the green eggs so we left them alone. The remaining 8 all hatched! So that would be a 100% hatch rate. Very exciting for a first timer!

Oh, and when we woke up on Day 20, they had all hatched during the night! It was very unexpected!

So, I take that as 8 of 9 (one infertile not counted) so 89% hatch rate?
So happy for you kittygirl13 - you were first on the list, and first to report. Congratulations on your fuzzy butts!

I posted earlier this morning, and am just wondering if I can be entered in the contest, or did the chicks still need to be incubating when this contest began? It was our first hatch, and they are currently 2 weeks old. Thanks! nd good luck to everyone else who have decided to hatch! It was such a fun experience!!!!!

Great news on your 100% hatch! That's awesome. Post some pics of your new little fuzzies and tell us the breed! In order to be added to the list, you must currently have eggs in the incubator.

I am on the list! So excited . . . what a great thread for everyone to share in. Mine are seven days today so will candle today for my first time to check for infertility. Then report a number, i think I got the procedure right?
BTW, My
AmeraubuffO

is my best hen, 5 years old and still laying a huge green egg everyday and the "superest" nature ever.

This is so exciting! I have one week and several days to go. I can see the little chicks inside when candling! How exciting.
Good hatching vibes to everyone.

We had some good looks at our "chicks" last night. It is so cool to see how they develop.
