Newbies 1st Hatch ! ! *Contest Listing updated*

I'm too late to join but I am on day 16. Set nine, three never developed. Six moving as of yesterdays candling in our home made bator, so we're thrilled thus far!

I set 41 eggs - of those, 34 were fertile and 22 hatched. My hatch is over. 1 blood ring, 2 quitters, 7 failed to pip - 4 pipped but failed to zip. If I did my math correct, that gives me a 65% hatch rate - even if they did take 23 days to hatch.

When I look at it from the perspective, I'd call it a success in spite of my mistakes - apparently too low temperature and I will learn from this a great deal.

My rookie hatch is finished, I think all went very well. I ended up with only 87% hatch rate, not bad I think.

Well, I verified today that 2 of my twenty incubating eggs have blood rings.
DH helped me candle these two again (it's the 9th day). I cracked them open & took some pics:

Sorry its taken me so long to post my computer went down. Borrowed one from my SIL.
Put 41 eggs in on March 15
day 14 candled 5 were clear
day 18 candled 3 more were clear
day 21- 2 hatched
Day 22- 11 hatched
day 23- 2 hatched
the remaining 13 did not progress
I hatched out
7 australopes
5 polish
2 cochins
6 ameracuanas
I think its prety good for my first attempt. When my computer is repaired I will post pics.

Of the 7 buff silkies that I started, I culled 3 - 2 clear and one blood spot. So last night, I moved 4 to the hatcher, up-ed the humidity and have taped it shut so I won't open it. My humidity is a bit high, about 70%, so that may be the end of my hatch, we'll see...

I have seven Welsummer eggs to go into the hatcher on Tuesday.
