(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We had chickens when we were kids.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
10 brand new little ones.
(3) What breeds do you have?
ISA Brown, a crossbreed of chicken, with sex-linked coloration. It is thought to have been the result of a complex series of crosses including but not limited to Rhode Island Reds and Rhode Island Whites, and contains genes from a wide range of breeds, the list of which is a closely guarded secret.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
So far, our little boy has lost his mind and doesnt even want to eat dinner for fear that he will miss one of the chicks doing something extraordinary (like flap their little wings).
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Custom leather work, Horses (we have two), living offgrid, sharing Essential oils (doTerra), living a clean, self sustainable and simple life.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We live high in the mountains of Colorado (9300') near a little town called Westcliffe. We a 4 year old boy, two dogs, two horses, a cat and now 10 little chickens.
7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Found BYC by researching how to raise chickens at high elevation. After looking around the site we decided to join up to be a part of a fun community.
