newborn chicks eyes, are they suppose to be closed like a new puppy

i have a new born chick and its eyes are closed like a new puppy, is this normal?

Some of them will keep their eyes shut for awhile until they feel stronger, it is a sign that they are in a weak state. Keep an eye on it and make sure it stays warm and if it doesn't perk up after awhile you might have to help it some.......
