Newborn Duckling

Someone any one have any idea it's still very weak over 9 hours old now!!

KBgirl I just had one hatch 1 out of 3. she started Friday night and by sunday morning she was done almost dry I took her out kept her warm all she did was sleep by sunday night she was moving around holding her head up standing up today she is eating and drinking. if you look at the post hatching some one gave me good advise . thanks to this forum I have 1 alive duck.

Thanks for the link, I have that all good at this point, I am concerned with it being so weak and not walking or drinking on its own and sleeping a lot I am giving it electrolytes & vitamins with a dropper, is there anything I can do to get it going?

They really don't have to eat or drink for a couple days they live off the yolk sac they absorbed while hatching. So giving it tiny drops of vitamins or Nutri Drench I really like Nutri Drench because it goes straight into the blood stream. if you don't have it use the other. and keeping it warm is about all you can do at this point. Except pray.

No, that is a bad idea. She needs starter crumble. You can mash it up with water if it's that much of a concern to you, but a lot of ducklings seem to prefer it dry. Put the food right next to the water dish, they'll figure it out rather quickly!

You can also give her mashed-up egg yolk for the first day if you're that worried about it, but she's gonna have to start eating crumble soon. And obviously, if you can only get your hands on chick starter and not waterfowl starter, you'll need to supplement it with niacin.

As posted now almost a day old duckling still weak, not eating, not drinking mostly sleeping. Still doing Nutri drench and electrolytes! Not much has changed also her poop is a dark green? What color poop should it have at a day old?? Please help

Her eyes will not open and I don't know what to do for her, I am petrified that I'm going to lose her! I just don't know what more I can do

Did you have to help her out of the shell? I wouldn't worry too much about eating they can live of the yolk sac for a couple days. just keep trying to give her a few drops of Nutri drench every hr or so.
