You should probably go get some actual Gamebird Starter which is available at TSC or your local feed store(which is probably cheaper than TSC) to ensure you are feeding them what they need. No offense to "the guy you got them from" but just because that is what he feeds his doesn't mean it's the proper thing to do. I have heard of people feeding there chickens only corn (I guess because it is cheaper or maybe an honest mistake). Be no different then me just feeding you bread and saying it works because you are not dead yet. Chick starter doesn't provide enough protein for what Gamebirds need.I'm not sure of the protein content, as the feed was given to us by the person who provided the eggs to us, but they also hatch and feed the same types of quail.
I do not have a set-up to be able to tell temp under the lamp.
The poop seems to be a bit runny as it mostly gets absorbed into the towel.
Were they ever able to stand? Were they standing and then stopped or just never got up? Flipping around is concerning, if you can video them and post a link to it on YouTube, we can try to help you figure out what’s going on. If they’re only 2 days old, they should have been receiving nutrients from their yolk until about now (2 days). If the parents had poor nutrition, this cushion of internal nutrients can be lacking and they might have trouble getting started. I’ve had success with mixing water with sugar and a light dusting of food blended into powder (not enough to thicken the water, more like a very weak broth).I have two few-day old quail chicks. They are not eating (we are giving them chick food mashed in some water, and tried boiled egg mashed in water), and can't seem to stand and are flipping around. They don't eat even if food is held up to their beaks. What to do?
