Hello,

I am new to this site. I just got 4 chicks on 9/16. This is the first time I have had chickens. I have 2 silver laced wyandottes a silver laced polish and a golden sex link. I still want to add 2 silkies to my collection. I am having a hard time finding the right coop for me and my girls. I joined this site for advise on raising my hens.

Hello Krysty. Welcome to BYC! There is tons of info here and very good people to help you on your journey as a new chicken owner. :)

I don't know how much reading/research you've already done, but if you want to get the most out of BYC, I suggest you do the following:
  • Spend some time in the Learning Center
  • When you have specific questions, most of the time a quick search will come up with the answers.
  • If you don't find anything useful that way, post your question in an appropriate sub-forum. People here are very helpful and will answer your question even it has been asked 100 times before.
From my experience, building your own coop is a far better solution than buying a standard commercial coop, which tend to be overpriced, flimsy and won't last as long. The coops area provides lots of ideas.

Enjoy your time here.
