Newcastle. Or Blackhead. Peacocks, PLEASE HELP.

They will also need to be tube fed if they aren't drinking and eating.

what size cath would he need for one this small? when i have had eating issues with chicks i just use a small syringe used for insulin shots and feed them every hour until i see them actively eating again, it is very time consuming but it works.. what size catherdirs should i keep on hand here? never needed them but with these greens here i now feel a need to have them as they can go bat crap crazy when moved from familuar area, I got to watch them greens like a hawk or the brooder that is, they try to eat every feather they can find, they are under weight a bit IMO and are craving protein, i hope the scramble eggs puts a stop to it soon as it makes me crazy to see the quil of a flight feathers sticking out of their beaks LOL

Chicks raised on the dirt with chicken mommas can get it simply by sitting in a pile of chicken poop! Google cloacal drinking ( on iPad, so too hard to copy/paste).

Dosing chicks will be hard to do... How old are they?

I explained that to him, he said they were one month old

I think there is a chart in Kathys tube feeding thread on her sig line that shows the different sizes and recommended size for what age birds.

I went to a medical supply house and bought numbers 8, 12, 18, 24, and 30 French. For a young chick, an 8 works well.

I'll see if I can find one one month old and double check. Sizes I use most are 8, 10, 18 and 30, though I do have everything in between just in case.

Have a 34 gram duckling that i'm tubing now and I use an 8 for it.

I took a chick to the vet yesterday and we were getting ready to tube it Penicillin ( a long story you will read later tonight), and she asked what size I needed. I told her 8, 10, or 12, but she did not have one, so we used a hard plastic 5, wow, that is tiny! She was going to cut the end off of it, but I was afraid of puncturing the esophagus so we left it entact.

Good thinking! This is the 8 that I use and it has had the end cut off and melted a little so it won't damage the esophagus and crop.

Here is the modified size 8
