My orpingtons are super sweet as well. I've never raised RIRs. I've always known them to be aggressive so I'm glad your's are social and friendly.

It's my understanding that RIR Roos are aggresive, but my hen was like. Dog with feathers...... She would socialize with dog as well.

So I have a black australorp that hatched chick but she pecked at it and opens her beak to what appears to be pulling the chick. She doesn't appear to be hurting it but my leghorn does not do that. Is this ok?

Pecking at a chick can do damage to it, I've heard of hens attacking chicks before. However, she may just be cleaning something like dust or mites off of them.

Everything seems to be ok so far. This is my first time hatching chicks so I didn't know if I should separate them. Mama chicks and flick are all together and they don't bother the babies at all.
