Hi all,

I am new here, and new to chickens. I hope to learn a lot from all of you here. I started out with eight day old brown leghorn chicks and we are now at the point they needed to get into a coop and have room to roam. so I built (w/ the help of my dad) the following coop and attached run and so far so good. They seem to really enjoy the space. Have a look and let me know what you think, or if you have any suggestions. Thanks.

Thanks for the replies. Yes they should have plenty of room. The total run including the area under the coop is 12' x 4'. And the coop is 4' x4'/

Looks like the spend more time on top of the nest boxes than the roost... You could angle a board up from the edge of the top of the nest box... but then there would be less 'floor space' in the coop.

If you were in Phoenix, that metal roof would make it an easy bake oven. Is it insulated under that?

Also I would place some ventilation holes...

But great concept and construction!
