I went to check my slikie broody whose eggs were due to hatch yesterday and saw a dead chick next to her. I picked it up and it was freezing…and then it moved its legs. I wrapped in a clothe and sat in front of the heater to warm it up and gave it warm water with save a chick. after it warmed up I set in a show box with a heat lamp over it. when it tries to stand it falls over backwards and can't get up. It also can't hold its neck up. I went back out and looked underneath and found another chick who isn't standing…not sure if its just cause its newly hatched or what but my gut said to bring it in.

Is this wry neck? I'm calling around to find polyvisol as we speak. What else should I do?

I got them some nutria drench. normally I don't take chicks from a broody and the only reason I even picked this one up was because i literally thought it was dead. I guess I'll try the nutridrench and see what happens

thank you! i just gave her some of the water with the syringe and she held her head up a little but it was very very shaky..i am wondering if maybe it could be a neurological problem. the other chick still can't stand but is hold its head up wel

I have to go to a bridal shower soon..wonder if they would mind me bringing the chicks… :)

Mine is the same. He just sits down and moves his legs really fast but cant seem to move! He looks tired and weak. Can this chick be cured or should I just end the suffering?

look up splayed leg for your chick. I have never had it before but from reading other threads thats what it looks like to me.

both of my chicks have their legs under them but just can't stand
