Newly hatched chick with bum leg

As in like rubber. Idk how to explain rubber. Nvm it is turned at the joint the wrong way. I just noticed. Am i seeing that right?
Maybe? The leg closer to the camera looks normal to me, except in that it's larger. Maybe I'm just not seeing the leg from the right angle? The one on the other side looks weirder; but again, could be the angle.
The wing on that side is also smaller
Oh. Probably not swollen, then. This sounds developmental, and possibly not something fixable.

What happens when you straighten the leg? Is the chick acting normal otherwise? (peeping, kicking in protest a bit, bright-eyed)

I tried to straighten it but couldn't. Baby started screaming. It wouldn't budge at all. Im guessing developmental as well. I did another pic closer to leg. The chicks left leg is the one messed up so furthest side. That wing even looks weird.

Better pi

Does the hock feel unusual or flat at at the back compared to the other one? Which joint seems to be twisted, hip or hock?

The condition of one side being smaller than the other is called hemihypertrophy in humans, and it comes with an increased risk of cancer. It also generally occurs in concert with other conditions.

I'm beginning to suspect that euthanasia might be the best option, but I like to try everything else first.

I'm going to tag some other people, in hopes someone's experienced something like this before:
@casportpony @Wyorp Rock @Eggcessive @azygous @rebrascora?

Its like 45 degree vs 90 degree
sorry? elucidate?

It is the shank that is twisted... like the knee on us. The leg feels rubbery but hard at same time if that makes sense. Sadly, im pretty sure it will have to be put down. I don't see any fixing this issue.

I hate it when this happens. I hope you have other chicks doing well.

So far the other 4 are doing well. I ended up putting this guy or girl in a coffee cup in the incubator because they were running over it and pecking at it. They are moved safely ro brooder now so i could take this one out of the cup to see how it did. Waiting to see if other eggs hatch. I moved extremely fast when i took them out. So hopefully it won't hurt anything.
