newly hatched chicks!

The 11 chicks are 5 weeks old now and next week I'm going to start individual shots of them again since they are almost at the perfect age for sexing.For now I have a variety of pics to show how much fun it was takings pics of the little rascals! They make things difficult cause they are all super curious and playful, they won't leave me or the camera alone!They love to perch on my hands,arms,shoes,and back.. :lau

Any thoughts on how many roosters or hens I have in the bunch?

The chicks are now 7 weeks old,their starting to put on some muscle getting very heavy and tall! I'm pretty certain that I've got 8 cockerels and 3 hens.

Due to pop up thunderstorms I couldn't take very good pictures this time around,but hopefully they will do until tomorrow when I can go out again.Enjoy their 8 week pics!

Yeah I think your right! a shame there are so many roos but what can you do? :confused:

I am going to keep the 2 best cockerels out of the bunch,and most likely,cull/sell the rest. I love the cream ones so far too,their the best mannered so far.But they'll be hitting adolescence soon so I'm waiting to see their dark side before I get too attached!

Here are the chicks 9 week pictures! :woot

Unfortunately one of my buff orp cockerel's was killed in an attempted swallowing by a large corn snake,the snake was re-located.so now we are down to 10 chicks. I'll be including a picture of the snake too.

We heard one of them crow for the first time yesterday,I'm sure the other's will follow soon.

11 weeks old today. The 7 cockerel's are becoming rooster's for sure,with behavioral and feathering changes.shiny hackles and full coloring coming in like the surprise blue tails on 2 of the red cockerel's!
