newly hatched duckling questions

It can be, and warm water baths can help because it takes pressure off the legs but paddling around helps to strengthen, also I’d add some form of niacin the best we can rec is liquid b complex TSC has it usually in the cattle area it will say injectable but just take 1 ml and put over their feed just enough feed that they eat it up and get full dose. B complex is awesome for leg health.

The bottle will look like one of these. They are the same.

Thank you! The little one seems to be trying to stand now a bit which is great although she still lies down after a big effort. Again eating and drinking is fine. She is smaller than her brother / sister but think that’s just her.
I haven’t been able to find any liquid Niacin or brewers yeast yet but am doing the rounds tomorrow to get some. I found niacin pills for people but that’s about it. I’ve been recommended to give blended up spinach in the food. Also told to do warm water baths which we will try tomorrow too. We will also try the splint tomorrow. Have the tape etc so will make it tomorrow. Hard to say if it’s the foot or the joint but we’ll see.

Do you have a Tractor supply close the best b complex is there. Probably in the cattle section but ask for it. It will say injectable but we use it orally. 1 ml over a small amount of feed or crushed mealworms. It’s very important for our waterfowl babies to have this niacin and the other bs they need it for leg health and neurological health. You can also buy human liquid b complex at any store that carries human vitamins I got some at Walmart. It isn’t as concentrated so it will be 3 ml a day. Keep either in the frig it will keep longer. I would not buy brewers yeast it doesn’t have as much niacin in it even as Nutritional yeast.

Hope they aren’t too crowded. When they are apart for a second they go straight back to lying on top of each other. :) I think the yolk sac fell off completely. There’s no blood anywhere and the eggs are clean too. Just the umbilical cord that looks dry but still attached a bit. The other one keeps pecking at the younger one but it looks like he’s just trying to get him/her clean.
So cute.

Thanks so much for the tips. We live on a small island so unfortunately there aren’t many farms and no tractor supplies anywhere. Good advice about human liquid b complex - the pharmacies here I went to were sold out but I have a few lore to try today and a health food store too so fingers crossed I can find some there. I wasn’t sure about dosage - which would be more or less concentrated etc and was nervous to give them vitamins sold for people so I appreciate hearing this. Thanks!

Also Dot seems to have more strength in her legs this morning which is encouraging. :) I’ve uploaded some photos of them having breakfast just now. I blended up some spinach for them too as that was recommended also.
