Well my girl has finally hatched one of her eggs. The girls have been laying non-stop all year long but because I had enough turkeys, I didn't want them to hatch out any, so I was taking the eggs and eating them. YUMMY! But...... I felt sorry for this turkey hen. She was stealing and sitting on any egg that she could find (chicken and duck). So, I put a few eggs under her a month ago and one of them has hatched today.

Here are a few very poorly taken pics but this is all that I could get. Im' sorry about that.

She is VERY aggressive this go around. I will try to take more pics after I move her to the nursery quarters. She is in a nesting box right now and she will be moved ASAP.

Will keep you posted when the other eggs hatch.

Mrs. Fluffy Puffy :

Anymore hatch this morning?

Not yet. I went out there to open the coops and I checked under her but nothing yet. I hope the other eggs are fertile. I never candled, so I don't know if they are fertile or not.

Thank you so much for asking. I will keep you posted.

She was on 3 eggs. 1 has hatched, so there are 2 more. Turkeys eggs are all over the place, so I hope the girls will go broody soon. I never had to use an incubator because I had so many chickens, ducks and turkeys that would go broody at one time, but now I am thinking about getting an incubator to hatch out all of these turkey eggs. I have a waiting list for people who want poults. I guess I better get a move on it.

I can't wait for my turkey eggs to come! I'll be hatching them in the Octagon 20! I just hope the weather gets better here so I can start a turkey pen

Yea yea yea. I know I know...............But in my defense, I never needed one until now. At any time, I have had up to 15 broody chicken hens that would set on 8-10 eggs each, including my banty girls who sat on 6 - 8 standard size eggs, so I never needed an incubator. My girls hatched out almost 100 chicks in 2010. However, last year my turkeys hens hatched a bunch and I kept 2 more hens from that hatch, so now I have 4 turkey hens and they are laying all over the place. So, I really need an incubator now.

Don't get me wrong, I have been coveting EVERYONE's incubator that is here on BYC.

Just not sure which one to buy. But I'm sure if I ask you nicely and kindly with cherries on top, you may want to offer a suggestion on what type of incubator to buy?
