Newnan Georgia show Feb 16-17

Newbie alert...if I can find the chicks I want at the show, what are the chances ill get home with baby girls ...NOT ROSTERS?

Depending on the age pretty much 50/50. The younger they are the harder to tell. At most of the shows I have been to, I have seen very few chicks. Most of the birds are a few months and up.

if all I can find are these non-chicks is there any issues with starting a new flock with that age instead of from chicks and do they normally cost more?

You can start your new flock with any age birds. I recently bought some 9 month old pullets and a 2 yr old roo to introduce some new blood into my flock which are descendents of the same line that my birds are descendents of, just that they came from a different breeder. The older birds do usually cost more but remember you didn't have to feed them to get them to that stage which is closer to laying if they already aren't.

Im really leaning towards ordering them all at the same time from Mr Pet Chicken online. They will give the non bantams their shot's and if any turn out to be males will make it right. They wont come until May something if I go that route. Is there any problem with picking up a black silkie from a different source and maybe a different age to to with the others? I know to look for clear eyes, to keep them apart for a time to make sure it does not turn sick, anything else I should know?

Showing some Runners. Bringing Mini-Overberg and Mini-SilverApplyard ducks to sell. Also some extra Dutch Hookbill drakes (too many boys) and maybe a pair of Saxony Ducks I got all of these from Holdrreads... they are extras and I finally decided what I want to concentrate on.

I don't recall from who but the eggs came from california and he will be a year old either this week or next. My friend is over an hour drive away from me and she may not be able to get him here before I leave on friday. But I can ask. The one I got from her is very handsome. She has too many roos and they're fighting with each other. The one I got still has scabs on his comb and waddles but he is a nice big fella.

I'll send her a message and ask exactly who she got the line from and if she can get him to me before I leave.
