Well there are going to be some big changes taking place here in the next few months. My Buff/Red Buff producing Ringneck Pheasant flock will be heading to a new home with Justin Miller....a batch of Blue, Blue pied, and Green pied Ringneck chicks will be making the trip with me which will clean out my bator and hatcher as far as Ringneck eggs are concerned. And that will be the end of the ringneck chapter for me...at least for now. I've decided to head more towards ornamentals after a lil persuasion from some breeder friends of mine. I will be adding the following pheasant species and one exciting new waterfowl species to the property....

Yellow Splash Golden Pheasant
Cinnamon Splash Golden Pheasant
Temmnicks Tragopan Pheasant
Impeyan Pheasant
Reeves Pheasant

And maybbbeee....a pair or trio of Brown eareds.

And last but not least.....getting a pair of Barhead geese this fall! Wish I could dish out the big money and get a pair of red breasted but gotta limit myself and have always loved the barheads!

I will be keeping the mandarin and silver wood duck around but figured it was time for the ringnecks to move down the road. Looking forward to getting more into the Ornamentals and breeding and producing some QUALITY birds from them! Wont have very many of each species but enough to keep me entertained.
Ooohhh forgot the 3 EMU eggs in the bator....hopefully something happens with those 3 bad boys!

Nice!! I'm just getting into the waterfowl part.. and switching gears on production too. I'll have to keep the Ring Necks around for the hunters, But that's about as far as that will go. This year I'm adding Albino Chukar, 3 breeds of the more exotic quail, and looking for some of the exotic pheasants! Hope all turns out well for you and would love to see pics of the birds and setup.

The Impeyans are not flighty really at all. They don't like you being up close and personal with them but are relatively a big calm bird. The waterfowl is a fun aspect of raising ornamental especially cavity nesting varieties. The geese are just something I have wanted to do for awhile now and never gotten a chance. I will likely add another pair of Impeyan this fall as well.
