This is Zues! Age:1 and a half years old. Breed: red-star. A little about him: Zues can hardly see out of one eye (as you can see, he has to turn his head to see the camera) I don't know how his eye condition came to be, but despite this set-back he has an awesome personality and adores people and animals alike. When Zues came to me as a chick, he was a surprise when I opened the box. The hatchery had sent him as a filler to get rid of one of thier extra, unwanted roosters and to keep the other chicks warm during shipping. Now to add to the drama of his story, my dad didn't want extra roosters so I hid him with the layers, apart from some other filler chicks. Soon though, he began crowing and the secret of his gender could not escape my father's notice. It seemed he was destined to meet the blade of my dad's ax but, my dad never got around to killing him! My hen, Margaret began laying eggs and this, along with my tears, distracted him. Pretty soon, Zues became to tough to eat. I now have 11 roosters, to the shock/horror of my dad! He got used to them over the course of a year, although he still makes idle threats and jokingly nicknames them after types of meats. Now Zues and the others will live til a ripe old age and be loved by me forever! Thanks for giving me the opportunity to share this story and good luck with your contest!!!

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww thats so touching is funny how you can fall in love with this birds, thats a beautiful story... hurray for Zeus

These are some pics of my favorite rooster.I don't name my chickens,so the name I list is not their name but more a description. Here is a pic of my frizzle polish,he is a tolblunt/golden laced split.Big Daddy because he is the papa of 99 percent of my birds that I hatched out this year. He should win because he has put up with all those females and all the babies and is a gentle mellow rooster.

Stan the Man! Jersey Giant. He should win because he's the most photographed rooster in the world!

And he's a world class bread guzzler
