Now, I know Leghorns are supposed to be super flighty. If he were raised with calmer birds like the BO and cochin, would it help him any? How are the roos?

Also, some of these breeds are quite a bit heavier than the others. Will this be okay?

Any breed-specific info would be wonderful...Especially about the black langshan. I haven't heard much about them. Pics are great too!

My chickens are the opposite of what they're supposed to be.

I got a Buff Orpington because they were so highly recommended as "docile." Of my four chickens, the BO is the only one I've ever seen act aggressively toward another hen. She wants nothing to do with people.

I reluctantly got a RIR. I had heard they can be aggressive. Mine is a sweetheart, and I'd have to say she's my favorite. She's the easiest one to catch and hold. She's just a big red-headed dingbat. We should have named her Lucy.

My Barred Rock is my flightiest bird. She hates to be caught.

My Australorp is gorgeous, big, and relatively friendly. And she has the most incredibly soft feathers. I just love to pet her.

Out of your new list
Leghorn are flighty and can make the rest flighty!

Cubalaya pullet are noisy & don't deal with confiment well!

Bantams and regular size chickens can stay together if you get them at one time!

Sugestions:
Silkies & my Bantam Cochins are my favorite they are so affectionate!

Austolorp are also supposed to be very affectionate and great layers (mine are only 3 days so I don't know yet)

this site on breeds might help you decide!

Okay.

Australorps- I'd love to have one, but Ideal doesn't seem to have them. And we do want to order from Ideal.

Bantams- I'd LOVE to have some bantams, most of all Silkies, but My Pet Chicken no longer sexes bantams, and I don't know of any other place that does. :thun And I don't really want to end up with a bantam roo.

As for the roo... What about a Welsummer male? I want a really good looking roo that'll be friendly. Plus, my family is Dutch and Welsummers are from Holland.

And the cubalayas...We can't have an especially noisy hen. And they take a long time to mature, anyways. Instead of them, a Feather Legged Cuckoo Maran pullet, and a Barnevelder pullet? I quite like the way both of them look, and I've heard cuckoo marans are neat birds. Plus, Barnevelders are also Dutch.

Leghorns are supposed to be super flighty

I'm going to sound ignorant here but, what exactly does flighty mean? Like moody? I have 6 leghorns and they're the only ones that I can walk up to, pick up and carry around for however long I want. They're my sweetest girls.
Sorry to sound stupid...I just don't know what flighty means.

They are spose to be all scared and jittery, dont want to be around anyone, My leghorns and Campines(which are also flighty) are first ones to greet me and follow me like a puppy they also will sit on leg and let me pet even after treats are gone. My buff orp is the scaredy cat of the group and doesnt like being held. Maybe if raised as a group and not had any attention they would be different

I just got 2 RIR yesterday I love them already they both gave me eggs today and come up to me The ones I raised so far stay away till i have a snack!
