I made my roost from a long 2x3 board (cut in 4 ft lengths) that i had left from when we built our addition on our house. i used up whatever scrap lumber i could in the coop project---nest boxes, roost, the steps up to the door, even the doors themselves are leftover pieces of plywood. I should post some interior pics too.

View looking through the people door (the whitish chicken is an EE). The nest boxes are on the right, and the roost is on the left. There are two hanging feeders, and one hanging waterer. I have another hanging waterer outside under the roof overhang. The metal can holds a bag or two of feed. I also made a cute little storage cupboard in the corner to keep supplies like bags of oyster-shell grit, spare fly-papers, etc:

We are having our annual Halloween theme, Spooktacular open house October 17th from 2:00-4:00 at the Animal Hospital. Everyone brings pets, a lot in costume, Their will be a haunted kennel, prizes for pets in costume, food, candy, raffles, games for dogs bobbing for hot dogs etc. demonstrations on ultra sounds etc. etc. Lots of fun things for the kids. Every ones invited, I'd love to see you come with your pet dogs, chickens, rabbits, ducks what ever pets you would like to bring. The kids love it. I'll have a hen house set up in one of the exam rooms. PM me if you want more info on it

We went to the fair again today. Boy was it packed.
My little grandaughter tried out for The Little Miss Deerfield but she didn't win. She was happy though. Her bigger sister won last year.
Good luck on the rest of your hatch Lisa. It is always exciting watching them hatch no matter how many times you do it. It never gets any less exciting.

The Frizzled Polish hatched, It's white with a couple black spots the size of a dime. What color will it turn out to be? Will it Frizzle ?Or are Polish Frizzles like other chickens sometimes they do and sometimes they don't

I brought my button quail trio, A nice man was interested and I told him how they were allready laying, but of course there were no eggs in the tank because the ones i had incunating in the little dome bator on my kitchen counter got eaten by my cat 2 days ago!! So he said he would think about it. He came back 10 minutes later and low and behold, the hens each had laid an egg! My husband said "hey this one doinf something weird with her butt, and I said "ya, she is sqiniting from where I am looking at her, so I walked around the other side of the tank and there was the egg coming out! That was something to see! I kinda wish i had kept them because they were amusing to watch. Maybe when I dwindle down some of the serama herd, I will get some more!
