is it a shay egg? then its elvis and coconut, she was white with black spots, some frizzle and some dont just like the frizzles of any breed.
you will know when it starts to feather, now those are cute chicks too! !

It was from Shay. What was Coconut? What was Elvis mixed with?

coconut was the polish hen, and elvis i believed to be a frizzled polish, shay said he had extra toes i think, have to ask her.

HEY everyone
long time no chat i have an araucna roo about six months old if anyone is interested please just message me before tomorow night
thanks everyone:)

Wow Abby, nice inside and out! I love the many tiered roost. We have two roosts at different heights. They are just thick branches that are debarked and nailed to the wall on either end. They were there already when we started fixing up the coop. Then we have our nesting bucket contraption on one wall. We really need a bigger coop. Dan said maybe next year we will double the size of it. His suggestion, I didn't even have to beg! When we build it bigger I just have to make sure I don't just over crowd it with more chickens again!

One of these started CROWING this morning! It was hilarious! Startled us, and then we just laughed, it sounded so funny! They both look pretty similar, so if both are boys, we are going to name them Wilber and Orville---the Wright brothers (who invented the airplane)---these little birds can really fly well!

Thanks, Val! I remember seeing pics of your nest buckets!

For my nest boxes, I used up a bunch of plywood scraps i had hanging around. I tend to save stuff i think might be useful---then we get piles of clutter---but heck, many times the stuff turns out to be VERY USEFUL!

Oh, that reminds me, i found a great deal on OSB (sort of like plywood) for my coop. It's all partial sheets, either 4 ft long of 6 ft long, but WAY cheaper than buying full sheets. It's all NEW too, just leftover from things this guy makes. If you want his contact info for next year, i will locate his phone number (it should be on my receipt).
