NH/Maine people- need a laugh- your local comic

heh! no offense taken! i've lived here most of my life and i still remember my dad's joke about some areas! even Pizza Hut and Dominoes won't deliver a pizza to those streets!

(i'm sure you know one street in particular i'm talking about!) i live on the outskirts of town and it still takes the police 5 1/2 hours to come out to investigate a report when the Dept of PW is right across the street from our house! they fill up vehicles there and wait in the parking lot for an hour at at time! you would think they could just swing by the house along the way and taken the rest of the description of the strange people trying to case the neighbors house! noooo! they had to come banging on my door at 12:30AM!

Wow... as opposed to down here where they scream DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS... when referring to littering. Crazy.

Yeah, but that being said, NH has some crazy old laws that are still technically in place, but not the least bit enforced. For example, only this year, 2010, did the punishment for infidelity change. It was "....standing on the gallows for an hour with a noose around the neck...." I'm not sure where there are any gallows, but...

I Know some of the old New England blue book laws are a trip!
Although.. i'm glad of one in Mass... it says residents can own a pig and have a pen in their yard to house the pig.
The town hall worker told me that..

I know EXACTLY the street you mean. I lived on the outskirts, near Milton, but I do remember that the police sucked bad. One time my ex's truck was stolen from the Cumby's near Market Basket, and the kid hocked all my ex's tools that were in the truck. They recovered them from the pawn shops and then kept them for evidence. They never gave them back! I even went in and identified the tools as ours, and the stupid detective who I won't name never returned them, even after the kid's trial was over! And don't even get me going on the Animal Control officer there.....

i used to live on the Milton end of town. then we bought our house on the opposite end! funny you mention the AC officer. we had to call about a cat that got hit in front of our house on father's day a couple years ago. no AC officer available so the officer that lived down the street got to our house in 10 minutes flat to take it across the street and dispatch it! NOW THAT WAS FAST for Rochester PD!

i guess only the animals get a response here in the Nawth! (whether wild or REALLY wild!)

Be glad she wasn't available. She would have somehow found a way to fine you for the dead cat. She takes the CONTROL part of Animal Control WAY too seriously.

oooh, good thing she hasn't found my chickens yet! one of my sweet boys ran to the neighbor's yard last week and nearly gave me a heart attack looking for him! he let out a good crow and saw me coming for him and just waited till i picked him up for a snuggle! think i could get fined for spoiling my roosters!
