chickens and ducks can have blue eyes, its a recessive gene that creates the color, in absence of the gene the eyes will be either brown or green.
Same with rabbits it is a reccessive gene and when matched up correctly can and will create brown, blue, green, lavender and low and behold RED.
Chicken genetics and rabbit centics are very similar only modifiers and extentions are different.

ETA: Calico can be anything like blotchy colors, blocks of color or strips of colors usually on a white or black back ground.

Calico in a rabbit is generally known as a Harliquin or Tri which is a broken (calico) Harliquin,

Lisa, i think on the Predator and Pest thread here on BYC they saqid 10 days. If you go to that thread there is a lady that is very knowledgable with the whole "pest" control and has a thread devoted to it. i will try and find her link for you. I found it very interesting for the Pour On.

Lisa, here is the thread, it is number 4 or 5, about half way down the page:

Thanks, I worm my chickens every three months. I rotate between Fenbendazole and Ivomec. All my chickens are under 7 months (except two)so They have only been deworm with Fenbendazole once and are due to be dewormed next month with ivomec. Ivomec also treats for lice. I had a busy morning putting up new fencing to keep the chickens far away from the tree line or the forest. My property abuts the Town Forest) Now if anything wants to get my chickens they will have to go over the deer fencing by the tree line and come out in the open area and then over another fence. What ever it is would have to be pretty ballsy to come out in the open like that. I'm also able to see the whole fenced in chicken area and the front of the barn from the windows in the house. I dusted the yard and barn floor ( shavings) a couple days ago and today I sprayed everyone with seven. I'll put the ivomec spot stuff on in about a week. If I see another bug after that I'm going to &!#*. We built a little coop several weeks ago. I'm keeping the Seramas in it. This afternoon I had to build a fenced in covered area so they could go in and out of the coop. I'm keeping them seperate and not letting them free range with the rest of the gang. I named my 4 new chicks, sorry 3 my Father named 1, the little Seabright that he kept in the house over night, she's so friendly. Her name is Penny and the other three are Callie, sky and bloomers. I've had a busy morning and afternoon so know I'm going to make myself a drink and go relax and sit outside and watch the new chicks play out in the sun for a while

My two new serama boys are very fresh...i put them in with my other serama babies thst hatched and they started beating them up and my babies came running to me to save them! Then they started ganging up on the pretty blue eyed "calico cochin"...she also came running to me and practically flew into my arms. They may have to go! I will not tolerate mean birds...i actually grabbed their little combs and gave them a little shakey! i think they got the message!

OK, I'm in big trouble now
barnie.gif
I just picked up a cabinet incubator with a clear front door so I can watch eggs hatch
ep.gif
I've never done this before so I need some help. what temp and what humidity do I keep it on to hatch chicken eggs. The bottom of it is plastic. What do you keep on the bottom to lay the eggs on? I didn't get the turner because I will have eggs hatching at different time and I don't want to have to worry about chicks hatching in it. It's a forced hot air. I think that's what it's called it has a fan that circulates the air. I'm going to put some of my eggs I have in it but I'm also looking for silkie eggs, Serama eggs
droolin.gif
, Polish eggs and standard Cochin eggs. If anyone has any for sale please let me know. Janet, tell your husband I ended up getting a kitchen cabinet with two front glass doors that I'm making into a brooder. I will be able to watch the chicks running around without having to worry about my cats

How old are the babies? Are they the ones that just hatched recently? The boys are too old to put in with them. They need to go in with birds close to the same age or older.

I won't be at those swaps but I'll be at the Milford swap. If you have any Silkie eggs at the time I'd be glad to buy some.
