Nice friend brought me babies but what are they?

when breeding blue slate with anything, it has a 50/50 chance of comming out black. so they could very well be blue slate x bronze. I have that cross and they look almost like blue slates when they mature, they just have a bit of barring

Remember, blue slate produces 3 colors (just like blue in chickens)... blue, black and self blue (sometimes called lavender or splash)

Oh, ok. Now I understand what red Miss Turkey4 was talking about. I don't know the sex of the guineas but I do have them in with the 2 turkeys. The turkey hen hatched all of guineas and 2 turkeys. Go figure.

Wow, very interesting. So I will basically have a nice surprise when they mature. I do find it interesting that one shows the snood and the other doesn't. Any thoughts on that?

GREAT pictures of your babies!! they are super cute whatever they turn out to be! what kind of camera do you have?

Thank you. The camera is a Sony but it's an older digital camera. Designed for stills so catching these buggers not moving is hard. At least they are curious enough to look at the camera which did make it easier. Get down on there level and they will stare at you wondering what you are doing. It can be fun. With this camera I don't have to do that because it has a tilt feature because of the long lens on it. I have to say it's the best part of the camera. My brother gave it to me years ago when switching to a new more updated model.

Just wanted to let you know that there IS a snood on the other baby. You can not see it looking at the baby bird but if you are looking down from behind the little ones head you can see it. It's black and blends in sooooo well. So, yes, they both have a snood.... LOL!
